Pineapple, grapefruit, lemon- My 3Alive home-made juice

By 12/14/2016 , ,

On the spotlight today; is a delicious, healthy and easy to make 3Alive juice that is a must try for every home. Especially now that the dry harmathan weather leaves us thirsty all the time. I don’t know about you, but I tend to reach out for liquids to keep me hydrated these days. You must of course be careful enough to avoid reaching for pop sodas as alternatives, because they are mostly loaded with sugar. What better way to do this than to make your own freshly squeezed juices at home, especially if you find drinking lots of water boring.

Go out and buy fresh fruits from the markets to make juices for your family, that way you are sure that the fruits are 100% fresh and no additives or sugar goes into it. Just be sure to buy enough fruits because your family will surely get hooked on the refreshing taste. Whats more, this is one power packed juice filled with vitamins and minerals. I actually made a large jug and it emptied in minutes.

The benefits of taking fresh fruits juices cannot be overemphasized. As stated in  , Pineapples are rich in vitamins and minerals such as bromelain, Vitamin C, thiamine, magnesium, potassium, fibre and folate, these vitamins work together to prevent colds, cure sinuses, sore throats, aid digestion, strengthen gums and help keep our skin looking supple and hydrated. While grapefruits and lemons which are both citruses; combined, are rich in Vitamin C, vitaminB6 vitamin A, fiber, copper, riboflavin and so on and they help protect the body against immune system deficiencies, aid weight loss, helps rejuvenate skin and heal wounds. What’s not to love!

Let’s make our power packed juice!

1) Juice from a whole pineapple

2) Juice from 3 grapefruits

3) Juice from 2 lemons

4) Water (optional)

1) Peel the pineapple skin and remove all of the eyes on it, cut into chunks and put into a blender

2) Add about 1/2 cup of water and blend the pineapples until very smooth

Cooks tip: be sure to choose the right pineapples for your juice, you do not want a rotten pineapple and you do not want an under ripe pineapple, this will make your juice sour. Water is also optional here because all of these fruits have a lot of juice in them, the water is only needed to aid blending the pineapples.

3) Once smoothly blended, strain twice  while using a spoon to press the juice out properly. set this aside

4) Using a manual juicer, extract the juices from the grapefruit and lemon

5) Mix all three juices together, refrigerate or add in ice cubes and serve chilled!!
